Starring Hiam Abbass (‘The Visitor’), Jimmy Akingbola (‘Arrow’) and Yasmine Al Massri (‘Quantico’), it was produced and directed by Nour Wazzi in 2010, written by Daniel Fajemisin-Duncan with a story by OSCAR nominee Ari Folman (‘Waltz with Bashir’).
Supported by Film London and Westminster Arts, sponsored by FBME Bank and post-production by Hogarth. It was shot on the Red One with Cooke S4 lenses.
‘Habibti’ has been selected in over 40 festivals internationally and has won a number of awards to date: Winner Audience Award (Gold Lion FF), Winner Best Actress (Cyprus IFF), Jury special mention (Montreal IBFF), Winner Best Actor (BEFFTA), Winner Royal Reel Award (Canada FF), Winner Silver Palm Award (Mexico IFF).
It’s being distributed by Short Films International and had its broadcast premiere on BBC Arabic in August 2013. ‘Habibti’ has also been selected in the ‘top 100 shorts by female directors’ broadcast on Shorts HD.
